In an isolated drive-thru suspended from the outside world, three generations of an immigrant family work tirelessly to fulfill orders no one sees. As Grandma recounts memories from a lost homeland, language and time begin to blur, unsettling the rhythm of their lives. When strange frozen items appear and the temperature plummets, they must huddle together to survive. A surreal and haunting exploration of cultural memory, familial love and survival, A Middle Passage captures the quiet ache of being in-between.

I Am a Unicorn and I Like to Fight

Conceived by Genevieve Juras

This devised dance-theatre work is in response to the challenging, restricting, and banning of book titles across American schools and libraries. These bans disproportionately target authors of color and from the LGBTQ+ community, and eliminate essential texts from our literary and historical landscape.

I want to focus on the relationship between reading/education and the next generation's ability to imagine a better, different world than the one they are set to inherit.

History: This piece originated in development at the American Dance Festival as a part of the Summer Dance Intensive.

Laure is a play in response to the painting “Olympia” by Manet (1865), imagining that the Black model, Laure, was not erased from the archive. By adapting themes from the “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde (1890), this play creates a three-dimensional world through its four characters, and engages with agency, gaze, and the power of the erotic.

Feasts Make Beasts by Maura Pelzcynski

A group of the most beautiful young women you’ve ever seen in your rotten little life sit down for a ritual feast. They are sisters in heaven. They are delicate flowers. They dance. They sing. They laugh.
They become hideous monsters.

This work scrutinizes the duality, the hypocrisy, the fickle nature of being a perfect woman. It is a deeply physical exploration of the act of being.
